Delightful Delilah

Delilah: Recycling Advocate Delilah: Guest at Pender Islands Fall Fair Delilah: Concensus Facilitator

Who is Delilah?

Most of us learned a lot from our mothers, and if not from our own, then from somebody else's mother! Well Delilah is a mother and housewife from the early 1960's. She lives somewhere near Toronto, in a suburban house with her husband and two children. BUT, Delilah is a housewife with a message. She has seen the future and she has opinions about how we can change it.

How has Delilah seen the future?

Scientists from the future have developed a time machine. The time in which they have developed it is a very difficult one for those living on earth. The scientists decided that they should use this machine to transport people from the past to the future and then return them to their own time to make a difference in the course of life on earth. They started out with very important people--a president, a musician--but found that as soon as these people developed a following and were making some changes, they were removed. So the scientists re-thought their plan and came to the conclusion that the change needed to be grass roots and instigated by someone unimportant. They looked for the least important person they could think of, who people might still listen to and Delilah---a mother in the early 60's---was who they came up with.

The scientists took Delilah to the future and now send her into various time-zones and places to bring simple messages of how to make a difference.

What can Delilah possibly have to tell us?

Delilah reminds us of things we all know but seem to have forgotten....
'Do you know that simple baking soda, salt and lemon are cleansers, great cleaners for the home and for the body?...'
'Gloves. Yes, I do wear gloves and not just as a fashion statement, although they are attractive. There was a time when many people wore gloves and certainly anyone who could afford them did. This was to keep the hands clean....they didn't use anti-bacterial soaps....'
'To avoid unnecessary proliferation of plastic, you should always keep at least one plastic bag in your purse or pocket and everyone should have a drawer of them all folded and neat and ready to re-use. Have you seen my very handy way of folding a plastic bag?...'
'Aprons. Another item that should used daily and again not just as a fashion statement. I was amazed to see the mountains of laundry in future households. Just because we have washing machines, we do not need to use them non-stop!.....'

What types of gatherings does Delilah appear at?

Delilah has appeared at AGM's, a Fall Fair, small women's groups, and international Conferences. She usually addresses the group on a theme that relates to their reason for gathering.

Delilah as a facilitator.

Delilah has found that people listen to her. Who could not listen to someone's mother? We were all trained by a mother. Delilah discovered that because people listen to her, she could be very helpful as a facilitator for meetings. She is able to gently guide a group, encouraging participants to mind their manners, listen to one another and stay on task! Delilah is skilled in the use of reward for appropriate behaviour--rocky road fudge anyone?--and can laugh, even at herself.

If Your Group is interested in hearing Delilah speak or having her help as a facilitator...

She is available by prior arrangement through Shelley on this website or by calling Shelley at 250-629-3036. Shelley is contacted regularly by the scientists controlling the time machine that controls all of Delilah's spare time. Delilah will be available for engagement until she either becomes too high profile or someone notices that the housework often doesn't get done!

Of course there are fees necessary for procurement of Delilah's services. Fee negotiable.
